brake light failure

Keoke said:
Johnny, why should Synthetic brake fluid cause the brake switch to fail? or did you mean that the use of Synthetic brake fluid may fail to activate the brake switch.---Keoke-?

I've been told that synthetic (DOT 5) brake fluid causes premature brake switch failure. It seaps out of the switch reducing the pressure required to make contact. I have no practical experience with this statement, I only use good old DOT 3 brake fluid that melts the paint right off my car. Perhaps the newer type switches are made better.
