I started to feel the brake pedal pulsing a little on my 74 disk brake Midget. I jacked up the front and gave each wheel a spin and it felt like the passenger side was binding a little. I thught it was a warped disk but I just installed a new one and same problem. Is it possible for the hub to be bent of something that will imitate a warped rotor?
 
If the caliiper gets dirt or other crud in it, it will not release all the way. A good cleaning and a rebuild kit will fix this. Higher quality brake pads are the only other thing I can think of to fix that.
 
Rebuilt calipers have perhaps 200 miles on them and I'm running ebc greenstuff pads. Spinning the hub by hand with the wheel removed will show its binding up in just one part of the revolution.
 
ISTR that most disc brakes from this era had a 'tight' spot,. Some disc run out was needed to push the pads away from the disc so that they didn't drag for the entire revolution.

^That sounds plausible. If all else fails try taking the rotors to you local machine shop and have them resurfaced. It shouldn't cost more the $30-40 per rotor. While some parts store with do this I'd rather have a machinist as he did more than watch a 15 minute video to learn his craft.
 
My problem was it was pushing the pads too far from the rotor - causing a long pedal. Had replaced the rotor with a new one (cheaper than having it turned) and still no improvement. What I found was backing the hub nut off one flat got things rotating with only a hint of bind at one part of the revolution. Now, after all the bleeding I did to try and fix the brakes, I have the firmest pedal I have had since I've owned the car.
 
Are you sure it's not a bad hub bearing? Does it bind with the caliper off? The pedal should feel kinda stiff but I don't think there should be any binding.
 
No binding with caliper off. That is why I initially thought warped rotor and replaced with a new one.
 
How bad of a binding are we really talking about here. Is it just rubbing slightly and making some scraping noise or is it grabbing ahold of the wheel like the brakes are being applyed. I thing if its just a little noise don't worry about it and it will just wear in but if it is grabbing then all I can think of without seeing it for myself would be to have the new rotors resurfaced.
 
Bad enough with both old (well new with 250 miles on it) and new rotors that it was pushing pad away from surface and causing long pedal (I think). It was really hard to rotate the hub by hand through the spot where it was binding. All I can say for sure is that with the hub nut backed off one flat, I can feel slight binding at one spot if I spin the wheel by hand but the brake pedal is rock solid. Car pulls to the left (away from the new rotor side) slightly when braking but I think that might be either I just need to give the new rotor time to bed into the bads on that side or a result of my eyeball allignment.
