Brake Fluid

I have just finished installing all new hydraulic brake and clutch lines on my 1959 TR3.
What type and brand fluid do you recommend? I would like to use the silicone base but do not want to change the rubber
seals that is required to use silicone.

I've used NAPA DOT 5 (silicone) brake fluid for over twenty years in my cars with brake/clutch rebuild kits from all of the big three suppliers without a problem.

Me too (but only for 8 years).

No need to change the seals, just use DOT 5 silicone and be happy.

If you don't opt for silicone, then I would suggest Castrol LMA. It's likely not true of seals made in the last few decades, but original seals and replacements made through at least 1980 or so would definitely be attacked by some brands of brake fluid. And the DOT 3/4/5.1 rating had nothing to do with whether it would attack the seals or not. BTDT.

I recently conveted to silicone. I had a few minor problems but in the end everything turned out OK.

\Sorry about the misunderstanding about the silicone fluid. I wasn't sure about the seals. Thanks so much for the information. I will use the silicone.
