I can second Bruce's experience with silicone fluid. I put it in our TD some 25 years ago, but I have never changed it out in all that time. Still it is as clear today as it was 25 years ago when I put it in. That tells me that there is absolutely no corrosion in the system in all that time.

I use either Castrol COT $ or whichever brand is cheapest if they don't have Castrol....never went to the trouble of replacing all rubber, flex lines, rebuilding master cylinders, flushing hard lines, etc. to get rid of all residue from DOT 4 to install DOT 5.....& don't see a reason to do so as DOT 4 does the job just fine.....I've never had problems (that I know of) with moisture in DOT 4.
 
I got Castrol LMA at NAPA. Also saw it at Auto Zone and Pep Boys. If you've rebuilt the MC, you started with a clean MC and you will clean out all of the old fluid when bleed the system.
