TR2/3/3A Brake fluid identification by colour.

On the TR3B I a working on for a friend I plan to replace the brake fluid but he was not sure what is in it. I sucked a littlr out and it looks clear with a slight green tint. DOT3?
It needs a new Clutch MC. as the old one does nothing. The clutch peddle just hangs lose and the MC is stuck in.

I only use dot 3 and it has a green tint, I don't know what colour dot 4 is and I believe they should not be mixed.

If you are still not sure, mix a little of the brake fluid with an equal amount of water. If it is DOT 3 or 4 the two will mix: is it is DOT 5 they will separate. DOT 5 is usually purple, but not always. And I believe you can mix 3 and 4 - it is just their boiling points which differ.
 
You are all quite bonkers!! Dot 3 will rot the seals quickly I suggest Castrol LMA dot 4 synthetic .
Always flush out an old system of unknow fluid , any signs of problems with master/slaves is
cause for a complete overhaul!!! For safety sake.
