Brake Fluid Everywhere!!

Re: Brake Pedal Box Is Out!!

I'd go along with that, Ed. 8 PPSI would be fine if it can be maintained. A real regulator on a compressor will do it. Tryin' to use a spare tire would be a pain, tho.

And it ~is~ easy to do a car in minutes. A lift is helpful too. Even the lower cars then can be done quickly.

That's the truth! Initially, I thought about just using an old inner tube - too bulky...then, I went to a tire laying on the ground...nicer but you've gotta continually check it.

I've a little Sears electric air compressor - just gotta figure out a regulator that'll fit on it...or maybe its time to buy a small one with a built-in regulator.

Doesn't irk me, Ed, gives me a goal! 8 psi it is!

Re: Brake Pedal Box Is Out!!

Home Depot has all kinds of regulators, guages and such for air compressors.

Re: Brake Pedal Box Is Out!!

Methinks there's been a leak for quite some time - may even be one of the reasons the PO sold it to me! I know back when I bought it I pulled a wet towel out from under the master cylinders that the PO had wadded up & stuck up in the pedal box but I thought I'd solved that leak problem some time ago.....hmmmm, guess not (or else the 20 psi air pressure finally blew everything!)

I've finally got the inner fender & firewall cleaned - & got enough 'stuff' removed that, when I'm ready, I can get to the bolts holding the pedal box to the firewall

The AC vent & controls to the left of the steering column along with all the wiring up under the dash keep me from getting my fingers to 1 bolt holding the pedal box in place...well, now I've got the steering column & driver seat out & I can contort my body enough to fit that 1 bolt! & I've been meaning to install a 14" wood Tourist Trophy steering wheel for some time so pulling the column is no big deal (& I'll just go ahead & rebush it while its out).

However, now I've gotta sandblast & paint the pedal box...its been sitting in the parts cleaner all week & as I've been brushing gunk off it, the paint has also been coming off.

Glad its January! Though I do want to hop in & go for a spin....I love this car!
