Brake/Clutch Reservoir Lines

I am installing the brake/clutch fluid reservoir of my BT7 and I need to know which line connects to which nipple on the bottom of the can. I assume the inner compartment of the reservoir feeds the clutch and the outer compartment the brakes because the outer is larger and will hold more fluid. Am I correct? Or does it matter?

Maybe this will help. You can just see the lines at the Master cyl.

Your assumption is correct. If it didn't 'matter,' why would they bother increasing the cost and complexity of the reservoir by designing it with two chambers?

"I assume the inner compartment of the reservoir feeds the clutch and the outer compartment the brakes"

Yep you right Rob

. But guess what :

They work either way en don't ask me how I know.-:friendly_wink:

The two chambers are necessary so if you have a leak in your clutch circuit, your brakes don't fail.

Keoke, I too found out both systems will work even when you hook the lines up backward. I did get concerned when I discovered how much more the outside chamber holds compared to the inner. I figured it would be better to have more brake fluid in reserve than clutch fluid. So out comes all the fluid while I switch the lines around. Not the first time I've had to backup in this restoration......

Rob:

I can not remember how I found out that mine were the wrong way round . But I very sneakily reversed them- nere had no problem though.--:glee:
