Can you unhook the wires from the Brake Light Check swith in a 1974 MGB without causing any problems. SInce the gauge does not work I just wanted to remove the wires from it (my swith got broken) -- also on the same lines I unplugged teh seatbelt warning system from under the dash -- power was going to wires that were under the seat and not plugged into anything which caused a short when the seat caught it moving back and forth. So I guess I have two questions:

1 Can I remove the wires from the Brake Check Light in the dash.

2. Can I unplug the seatbelt warning system

If doing this wil cause future issues with the stellar wiring system in the my MGB then by all means I will put it back in place. Just trying to cut down on the number of possible electrical problems /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
 
For the seat buzzer simply tape up the wires with some electrical tape...I just did that same in the TR6....I

I did a similar thing on my B when I replaced the seat belts. The new belts don't have a switch integrated into the seat belt receptacle. I just put a bullet sleeve over it, taped it in place and tucked it under the carpet.

If the dash light for the brake pressure differential switch is on, you've got a brake balance issue. I'd investigate that before unplugging the indicator. The dash light should be off unless you push the ribbed portion to test the bulb (it should light).
 
1.) If you disconnect the purple wire at the dash brake light bulb and insulate it, you should have no problems with the rest of the electrical system. Draw back will be that you may not know if there is a problem with the braking system. I drove my B for about a year before I found out that I didn't have functioning rear brakes.

2.) I'm not sure how the how the seat belt module works, therefore I don't know which wires to disconnect.
