It's that time for my 66 BJ8. The old booster is a Girling, apparently original. I have received two sets of conflicting advice. One says to use Power Brake Exchange in San Jose, California, who tells me that there should be no problem, they do these successfully all the time. The other is my local Moss parts supplier and associated specialists, who say go with a new Lockheed booster and cylinder. The price difference is around $500.00 between the two methods. Originality is desireable, but having the car stop when desired is also. I'll assume that the new Lockheed unit is just fine, but pricey. What I don't know is the reliability of the units after being rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange. The other option is buying the rebuild kit, using the dry film lubricant, etc., but with the brakes, I'm not going to do that. Anyone have opinions or experience on this issue?
