Brain Bucket [Helmets] paint jobs?

Ok so a friend of mine envied me Autocrossing a while back and I have to admit that I wouldn't mind trying it myself some time with either the Porsche or the MG. But I’ve also be allowed to go on ride alongs during other types of events (track & rally types) and have found more times than not that it’s hard to find a loaner brain bucket because of my extremely HUGE noggin.

So I’ve decided on purchasing an one some time soon. Prefer to go with an “open face” old school type as I’ve always found that full face helmets give me claustrophobia and only seem to be required for the more hardcore & specific events.

That said I’m not really into skulls & crossbones, flame jobs or metal flake bass boat paint jobs but am thinking about having it personalized, by painting it (ala Jackie Stewart) with my family’s tartan. Any ideas on how I could have this done?

Thouhgts?

#1)Modern MacDuff Hunter

#2)Modern MacDuff Standard RED

Or
#3)Modern MacDuff Dress

I think I prefer the Hunter patern - but the dress would really stand out wouldn't it.

Match it to your car's color with an MG octagon on the sides. Just my opinion.

I've done a few racers' hats. Even did a "Woodstock" (C. Schultz) character onna back of a friend's shell once. To do a Tartan plaid one would be a challenge. Find a graphics type with airbrush skills, Bret.

Ain't going to be cheap. I've known people to pay more for the paint than they did for the hat. And they weren't cheap helmets, either!

I do air-brush, graphic design and the like, Bret... Come up with some idea of what you want and we can talk!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif (even a tartan!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif )

The coolest and best looking way is to work with a custom painter. But, as mentioned earlier, it won’t be cheap.

The easiest way would probably be to find a place that does digitally printed overlay film. It’s pretty common these days.
