Braided Oil Pressure Line

Anyone here running a braided oil pressure line from the block directly to the gauge? There's a small hole, chamfered and I suspect is some kind of check valve. Oil keeps pouring out of it. I took it off to do some dizzy work, and this started. Before I could get 40-60psi on the gauge, now nothing. It's poured probably a half a quart onto the ground and that's without the engine running, just turning over with the starter.
 
I hate to admit it but I have the common "after market" 1/8" nylon tube from NAPA (with 1/8" b-nuts) on mine and it has worked perfectly for about 5 years so far (broke the metal tube and replaced it "temporarily" 5 years ago).

No valve in there. The oil pressure ie oil. just compresses the air in the line to move the gauge.

The "metal" tube is just 1/8" copper (available @ Home Depot) installable with standard brass compression fittings, real easy to install!!!
 
Yeah, I know, but then I would have to do some work to replace it......

Yeah Jeff- I guess that with an engine that needs that stabilizer that you wouldn't need a heater!! Looks lethal!

Bill, I only posted the picture to show the braided oil line. It's a 948, pushing 100 HP, so it <u>should</u> be lethal!

Yeah, I know it could use some paint, Doc. This is still in the mock up stage to get everything located and test fit. Then it all comes back out again for detailing prior to final assembly.

It all looks pretty good in there. Rib case at first glance looked kinda Hewlandish: "What th'... Oh." /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
 
I learned pretty hard on getting oil pressure gauges to stop leaking. Liquid teflon is the trick here. Don't use tape! The cheapy nylon lines that come with the gauges or bought seperately work just fine.
