I had a truck load of Magnette/B... I needed to haul off to the scrap yard. So yesterday I got out a little early and decided to head on over to unload. I pull up to the IN scale and it read 670lbs. Oh boy am I in the money! I drive around, unload and head to the OUT scale. Turn off my truck and head up to the window to be handed a nice crisp $10 bill. Oh goodie. Big notice in the window. "All steel scrap 1 1/2 cents a pound." Good thing I shut off the engine in my truck or I might have lost money on the deal.

HOLY COW!! This past summer, I took 960 pounds of junk MG stuff to the scrap yard & got $110!!!

Crap metal prices have gone through the floor in the current economic climate. China's not in as much need of all our junk steel anymore.

guys we own a salvage yard...we have kept cars for sometimes 10 ears without crushing- copper & aluminum are the goldmine of metal right now......but my junk yard caters to 70's down automobiles- I would rather GIVE away parts to keep someones treasure running than crush a antique worth more for weight than modern value.

I was contemplating just tossing the stuff too but the truck was already filled. I could have put it in s dumpster at work but that would have taken several trips and probably cost more. This was just the lesser of two evils. I probably have another truckload too.

My neighbor is big on scrap and he told me he gets 7-9 cents a pound from the same yard. I was not expecting 1.5.

Unless you happen to have them with you Steve and are driving by the scrap yard, probably not worth the $2.

You guys are just playing with pennies. I got an email yesterday notifying me that I have won 750,000 euros in the European lottery. And I didn't even have to buy a lottery ticket! I don't actually have the money yet but as soon as it comes I intend to send a large part of it to Basil to support the forum in perpetuity.
