I agree with JP a propane torch will provide plenty of heat. I would be afraid that with an oxy-acetylene rig you'd wind up over heating the piece your pin is going through.
Ended up getting it without heat, after letting it soak a couple days.
I did compress the little stud coming out the end of the pin to where it was not usable, but fully expected that.
I cut off the stud, center punched the pin, and drilled & tapped for a 10 x 32 screw. Used loctite on the screw, but can't imagine that it could come loose even without using anything to retain it. Took several good whacks with a hammer just to get the tapered pin back in place. Everything went back together on the car very easily after re-bushing the idler arm and putting new ends on the drag link. Finished about 10:30 last nite and will take it for a road test this evening.
Here in Guthrie, OK we celebrate 89er day (actually 4 days) each year. Friday nite is the "Gezzers, Gassers & Hawgs" show. Last year, on the spur of the moment we put our Vanden Plas Princess (old British limo built on an Austin truck chassis) in the show. Thee are no die stamped panels. All hand made. It is mostly alloy body. Front fenders are steel. All else is allow. We have a lot of fun with it. When friends come over, we like to chauffer them to dinner.
Guessed someone liked it. It is one of two cover cars for this years ad.
