Back in April, I visited Eastern Connecticut, where my aunt & uncle live. After driving on some of the tight, twisty backroads, I began to miss my girls. One day, while I was out on one of my drives, I discovered a place called "The British "T" Shop." I didn't see the shop, per se, but what was parked out front. One hasty U-turn later, I was face to face with one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen - a 1974 MGB/GT in black. After talking to Tom (the owner of the shop), I discoved the name of the owner and some of the car's history. I couldn't stop thinking about the car, even when I came home. Friday, browsing through Hemmings at work, I stumble upon the MG section quite by accident. Just for fun, I decide to look up 1974 1/2s before moving on. However, one ad caught my eye. It was an ad for my black car! After a quick phone call, I learned that someone was to come look at the car the next day. After a restless sleep, I distracted myself for a few hours at Best of Show before calling again (I think swingers would say I broke the "three day rule"). The fellow who was to look at the car never came, but the owner could tell I was serious. As long as I mailed a deposit, the car was mine. I told him my intentions for the car - one last summer road trip before college - and he told me that he and Tom will go through the car and make sure everything is in good shape to drive the 500 miles or so back home when I pick her up mid-August. This will be the car I drive back and forth to college in the spring and fall.

BGTs are a pretty car, hope this one works out well for you.

Oh MAN!!!

On the surface I think you done good, dude! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

It'll be both more and less than Char. But a great 'commuter' once sorted even half way!

Charlotte will ALWAYS be my best girl, even though the looks of the chrome bumper BGT were what made me fall in love with the marque in the first place. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Cam! No doubt the BGT is my favorite, and that, is a good looking car mate.
More pics soon I hope?

I agree. BGTs sure are attractive but I'm biased . Good luck with her.

Great car! I have been thinking of getting Penelope someone to talk to, and I have my eye on a BRG 69 BGT. Just waiting for the owner to come to his senses, and let me drag the car out of his barn...

Very nice, lucky find.

Way to go, bud - you know what to look for so far as rust is concerned so, if you're happy, you did good!

Do I smell a long cross country road trip in the near future?

Nice, very nice!

Perhaps I should paint Harold black ...

The ride back home shall be interesting, but as soon as college starts, the chances of me taking any sort of road trip are nil.

Tony, are you back home yet? I still want to get all that stuff for Charlotte, so she dosen't feel neglected.

This girl dosen't have a name yet, but as it stands, "Rio" is in the lead. Thoughts?

I am home!

This list?

(2) new uprated front shocks 264-361
(1) negative camber a-arms 264-038
(4) factory front sway bar bracket bolts
(6) blind fixes 326-665
(1) intake vent grille 471-020

PM sent Tony, with a few added parts for Rio!

I'm bidding on two head units right now, will either fit?

Pioneer DEH-P3700MP
JVC KD-S590

Got the PM - you need to talk with a teenager about stereo stuff.....

If I'm not mistaken, standard DIN sized stereos should fit in the center console without much problem.

I'm just worried about depth, because I've seen several MGBs at cruise-ins with CD players sticking halfway out of the console!

DIN's will fit - but you're correct about depth...& when you measure, don't forget to allow for wiring harness.

I put a Sony CDX-GT30W in my 74 and it fits snugly. It has a depth of 7 1/4", plus wiring (which doesn't add much).

And beautiful car, by the way; GTs look great. And what a good year and color!
