For the longest time my 2.7 eng. in my 75 911S has given me fits....so this morning...with my wife's blessing...I bought a 3.0 engine off E-Bay from a Porsche place in L.A. Its a direct bolt up to my car so hopefully by late in the week it'll be delivered and my f/i..and oil leaking problems will be behind me.

congrats - of course we'll need pictures!

WHOA!! Three leets! :jester:

Nice. Congrats.

...I thought you'd sorted the FI issues.

Yeah..got it straight...then something messed up...again. I got a huge pile oe cis fuel injection stuff so when all this is straightened out with the 3.0...I'll sell everything 2.7. Engine and all. Good core for a rebuilder.

Porches leak oil TOO??? You mean it's NOT just a British car thing?? Who knew!! LoL

Congrats on your new powerplant!

Ok, sorry for the spelling. Doing this with my iPod. Porsche* I KNEW that!

"...and for your information that wasn't a Porch, it's a Ferrari." :jester:

Im named it the Valdez...hope thats the correct spelling

The engine is on the truck headed this way, would be nice if it got here on Friday...I'd spend the week-end doing the installation. This after noon I'm going to drop the drivetrain and prep the engine compartment....although it dosen't need much, clean from working on it all the time. I'm pretty sure after the engine is done, new tires are installed and my new leather seats are bolted in, I'll drive it on a couple of short road trips and then put it on E-Bay. Not much of a market around here for sports cars.

Well.....the sage continues. This 3.0 engine was advertised by the seller as ready to bolt in and go....runs perfectly. I popped the dist. cap and it looked new...but the rotor was shattered and the shaft wobbles like there are no bushings in it. Called the folks and they said"can't help...must have been damaged it shipment or just been like that"??? If so I asked, how did you run it and why is the cap not busted?? UHHH...sorry, don't know and habe no other dists. to sell??? you...now I'm getting cranked up. Aksed this fool...again...how was it run and checked out? More of the above. Called my pals at Motormeister, talked to Roy, he said if the core is rebuildable(housing not crushed and shaft not bent(whew) mine can be rebuild for $399 or trade it in for one ready to go for $499. With no core add $500!! Luckily mine is a good core so I told him whatever is fastest..Mine goes out tomorrow and they'll send one out the day mine gets there. So the money I had set aside for the Las Cruces LBC show in two wekks is out...and the new Dist for the 911 is in...crap.
