Bottom Starter Motor Bolt - How do I get it loose?

OK Starter removal not an issue until you get to the bottom bolt. Right now looks like the only way to get at that bolt is to remove the clutch slave and I know there is a way to do it without resorting to that.

So what is the trick, a couple of ratchets with a 12" extension bar on each side to get at it? And once you get it loose is there a trick needed to reinstall and tighten the bottom bolt..

HELP!!!

OK success, 9/16 from inside the clutch slave access plate and 18" extension bar and it's out. And all by myself. OK Frank, now I see how you can do this one in 10 minutes. And the self lubricated chassis feature really makes this a fun one to do.

on the 58 I use 2 extension on a ratchet This puts the hands at the front of the oil pan an air tool helps

Thanks, bolts were ok to get loose once I could get hold of them. Cleaned them up and they will now go on easy. Now the cable is too short to reach the starter. Oh well, wife just gave me two errands and I'll swing by Oreilly's on the way and get a 4" longer cable. With any luck Vroom, Vroom later tonight.

I replace the fine thread bolts with 3/8 x 16 course thread, this makes for less wrench turning especially on the bottom bolt. Undo the bottom first, the top one is a piece of cake. And a 6" extension from the back of the starter to the bolt usually works.
And from the top side of the car, it is much harder from under the car.

The trick was access to the bottom bolt from the Clutch Slave access hole in the passenger footwell. Never got things finished last night, back at it once I getthe important things done like reading this forum.

Done and all back together and all without a helper. Sort of wish I was Stretch Armstrong at times but figured out the tricks to make it work.
