For the first time I am going to have both mini's on the road

My little red one is now officially a classic and on a limited mileage policy and the SKY is being tidied up as I type and should be MOT'd next week  Now I will have to choose which Mini goes with which dress

Rosalind, good to see you here again.

So, is one of the classic Minis your daily driver? Do you drive it to work, etc.?

Photos, please!

Cheers

We decided to respray the front end first as its looking a little drab. Its almost prepared now and should be resprayed next weekend. Then its just putting everything back together and the MOT should be soon after that.

We haven't done any photos for some time - definately will with the Sky though:smile: I plan to do a '1989' theme....should be fun.

And I have some lovely red racing overalls so may do a fe wmore with the mayfair too

Oh...by the way I missed a question: I drive the Red Mini everyday, but will swap around when the Sky is ready.

last night we put the guide coat on and rubbed it all off this afternoon ready for spraying tomorrow

Rosalind, is this work being done in your garage? Are YOU getting your hands dirty???

I did alot of the preperation but my husband did the actual spraying.

The colours are original yes. I would not want to change the car.

tonight the windscreen went back in. We tried the other night to use a non original rubber but gave up after three hours! The new genuine seal went in easy and both the seal and chrome trim are in now. In the photo I was just tucking in a little bit of headlining that had escaped:smile:

We had a big problem. after just a few minutes with the engine running the car overheated. We ( by 'we' i mean my husband) took the radiator off and back flushed the system...except it wouldn't. eventualy water came through slowly so we refitted the radiator and put some cooling system flush in and let it run to circulate the flush...still the same. The bottom hose was cold though so thought it could be the pump. We brought a new water pump (Ā£18.00) hoping it was that rather than internal blockage. When we took the old water pump off it was just as though someone had blocked the outlet and bypass pipe up with candle wax! I will take a photo later. We checked the other pipes and cleared the little metal bypass pipe that goes to the thermostat, fitted the new water pump and the temperature is fine now thankfully.

I did the nice job of refitting the interior, washers, wipers etc

i wish you could edit messages...this needs to be in the other post:

We are proud of you and your husband. I guess it's just about done.
Øvelse gør mester.

Yes it is almost finished

We booked it in for the MOT 10am Thursday...fingers crossed.

Tonight I rubbed the wheels down ready for spraying Diamond White. Its one of the only changes I dare make to the car (have kept the original steel wheels and white hub caps though)

still need to add the pinstripes to the side and give the whole car a good compound and polish. In the photo the grey wheel arch extensions were not fitted (they are now).

if anyone is interested...tonight the wheels went on and the mini is back on all fours again.

MOT in the morning..hope it passes!

The pinstripes did not arrive in time but that can wait. I have some genuine Rover stripes but want to save those for when we restore the car fully in a couple of years.
