I am stuck in Paris waiting on the final work to be completed on an Air France 777 airliner, so I can do the system checks. Airplane Power won't be back on until Friday morning. The plan is to load software and finish the system checks on Friday.
Mean while I have a bunch of parts that have come in for my Triumph and I have several clean up projects I want to start and finish before I put the engine back in and I have to sit here and wait. Sad isn't it.
I have to be careful writing the wife, I don't want to sound to anxious to work on the LBC.
I have been reading up on all the threads that I can find for my planned projects so I can be prepared. Really hard to keep from buying more parts, such as heavy duty front axle kits! New off white headliner for hardtop that is being repainted, etc.
oh well it pays the bills.
I hope this doesn't sound to whiny.
 
Are there any cool French cars to check out while your there? I'm not sure the French ever made any.

Wow Mickey, Those are really cool and I'm sure quite pricey. The Citroen ?....mmmmm not so sure I like that one.
 
Hmm, maybe to pass the time take a 2 1/2 hr Eurostar ride into London, then stop at either the TRShop in Chiswick or Moss's London warehouse. You can never have too many parts..

Forget that, run out to Epernay and grab some champagne for when you get your LBC back together!

Or take the Eiffel tower tour.

There's got to be something to do in that town.

Bring me back a couple of cases of Chateau Neuf,and some good Rhones.
 
Yeah, actually staying in France is a great option - and if you manage to get tired of Paris a fast train out to the Normandy area isn't bad either. We had an absolutely fantastic time over there. But I do think that Eurostar chunnel train is a great ride.

If you can wait a few days, actually by the middle of next week, I'll have pictures of HD front axles being installed.

Thanks for the lift. Yes we had a chuckle about the A340. Some one did a bad.
I have been able to get some time away. The worst thing about this job is you have to stay available in case there's a question in understanding the service bulletin instructions or a missing part from the kit, etc. We pretty much have to be on site 10 hours/7 days a week to cover all the shifts.
I have had some time off. I did get to do the Eiffel tour and we have walked alot of the city. Some due to the transportation strike and some for sightseeing. When the metro and RER trains are running it's easy to get around. I did see on (I will whisper this for those who don't want to hear) a MGB going down the street. There are bunches of old and new Mini Coopers,(makes me want one). Also a Peugeot car display, that has a Peugeot built right after the war that has a lot of side wall wood work. It looks kind of like a Woody wagon. This was due to metal shortages. I will try to get a picture and post. Also some kool concept cars. This is up by the Arc De Triomphe.

It's that I have just been here 4 weeks and time to go home and I want to drive my TR6 but it needs me to spend some quality rebuild time with it.

Thanks again for the feedback.

I did get some good progress reports, my trans/OD has been warranty repaired. I was able to work a deal with John at QM to have a local Seattle fella Mark at Britsport to do the work, saving the shipping costs and time. The OD would not disengage reliably. I haven't gotten the full report as to what was wrong,(cell phone costs)but it is repaired.
The engine rebuild is going smoothly and on schedule, should be done end of Nov or the first week in Dec depending on the engine balancers schedule.
I was informed the cam was badly worn and the crank need grinding. The estimate is still at 2000.00 to 2200.00 which I think is a great deal.
The hardtop will be painted by the time I am back and the sound deadening material arrived. So I just need to get home.
Seems shops have time as work coming in is slowing, something about the economy? What is going on over there? LOL. As if I didn't know.

You know, I think it might be nice to be stuck in
Paris for a week or two. Guess you miss home when
yer away form your car.
 
The best I can do for cool cars in Paris so far.
These were in a Peugeot store where they also sold odd knick nack things and t shirts and believe it or not Peugeot salt and pepper grinders.
Also titanium wood chisels, 5 chisels for 70 Euro.
