Boot Remote Lamp

Beginning to set up new wiring loom for 73 Midget. Coming off of the rear loom is a single 6 inch length purple wire with bullet connector for the boot remote lamp. Just as it should be, per the wiring diagram. Problem is, thats all there is for the boot lamp and switch.... So, my question is....how would I go about completing this wiring circuit? My (unexperienced) thought is to make two lengths of wire. One would screw onto the raised screw position on the boot lamp base, to act as a ground, the other would be bullet connected to the purple wire from the loom. A second wire would be bullet connected to the boot lamp, with its end connected to the bullet connector just off the actual bulb, and its opposite end connected to the triggering plunger switch at the top right hand side of the boot on the special bracket. It seems to me this would complete the circuit? Is this sounding right?

As a side note, the rear side marker wires are one black, and one green. Wiring diagram shows one black, and one red. Two web photos show a 72 and a 73 black and red. Just a minor descrepency.
Thanks for any electronic comments.

Mike
