TR2/3/3A Boot Lid Seal TR3A

The boot lid seal is split and came that way from TRF and I see how it goes on. The split slides on to a piece of metal that stands upright one the body in the boot lid area. I have been told to use contact cement to fasten the seals to the body. I have no problem, in general with that idea but, in this instance I in-vision a mess trying to use contact cement on the boot lid seal. So far my experience with contact cement is that once it touches it's stuck.
I would appreciate any ideas on how you did yours and what kind of cement you used.

Test fit the seal before you glue it down. Sometimes they sit too high and the boot lid won't close properly.

The solution is to carefully cut the slot in the rubber a bit deeper so it sits lower on the metal lip.

I fix it down with roof and gutter grade silicone. Squirt it into the slit and push the seal partially on. Close the boot lid while the silicone sets, and it just presses the seal down far enough so it's still in contact with the lid. That gives better water proofing.

With contact adhesive it's harder to adjust the boot seal to an even height as it grips where it first touches.

As I recall, I didn't even bother to glue it in. It just sits there and doesn't seem to want to leap out at me at anytime. Well shoot, can't hurt to try it and see if it stays in place w/o stickem. Sit! Stay!

I tried that Geo, but since it is cut in half at the bottom it wouldn't sit and stay!

Oh, I put the point where the ends meet at top center -- maybe that is why it held it's place.

I'm afraid Geo, that my boot seal has not been properly trained. I tried putting its end at the top and it jumped off every time. I guess I will have to use some sort of training stimulant.
