Thought I'd fill you in a bit.

Later this month I am beginning a short (10 week) Sabbatical. For about 5 weeks of that SWMBO & I are going to walk the Camino de Santiago ( the way of St James) We are flying to Paris, taking a train to St Jean de Pied Port and walking to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Santiago is where the remains of the apostle St James are said to be buried. This is an 800 km pilgrimage that takes us over the Pyrenees into Spain. We will be staying at hostels. This pilgrimage route has been in use since the 8th century and in recent years has become much more popular. We are excited and a tad apprehensive.

We're doing our yearly trek to Europe... and will be starting in Paris this year (then to Reims, Colmar, alps, Beaune and ending in Nice). Leaving for only about 3 weeks starting in late June.
Your journey sounds very interesting, and through lovely country.
Haven't been on sabbatical myself since 1996! 10 weeks sounds like a true break.
 
I've been on sabbatical since 2002! Great life. Should have done it sooner. :jester:
 
Color me green, J-P. That's the one I'd love to do. Will be anxious to hear your story when you return.
 
And all I'm doing is taking a four-day trip to Vancouver, BC this weekend :jester:

And then sometime this summer headed up north to Smithers, BC to visit my brother for a week... A very nice place, if you don't know where it is

Enjoy your trip JP, sounds like it should be a fantastic time with very real meaning...

Don't make come down there. :madder: I so hate it when people take a little bit of knowledge, mix it up with half truths and come to a hypothesis. For your information, I am tired of weary stereotypes about clergy, I DRINK COFFEE!!!

I'm envious. That would be an epic journey. I recently watched an episode of Rick Steves on PBS where he covers the whole route of the pilgrims. It looks fantastic.

I do not wish to hijack this thread. Lot's of work today (3 surgery's etc) I gave my self a present this week and put the B/E in the paint shop. I've been working on a research project that will remove 28 Saturday's from my free time, so the company that makes Advil will be sponsoring the restoration and releving my muscle pain.

Happy Birthday!!! and as someone who was born and baptized CRC, yes, I get the joke but I always thought the destination was Grand Rapids.
