Bonnet thoughts...

My bugeye has a pretty wavy bonnet, and in my opinion will need the lower valence replaced along with enough other bodywork to make it quite costly to repair. I picked up another with my roller, and its pretty straight but been cut up a bit more than I realized, so that one will need a good amount of work as well. So now I am thinking of selling those two and getting a glass bonnet. First, what kind of mods are needed to mount one? I assume front tilt is the only way to mount it, but I have never seen one. Second, any drawbacks to one? I'm not concerned about originality, so we can ignore that.

There is a glass racing bonnet on craigslist Merced (it is in Turlock). Nothing that cannot be reversed as far as mods go. The real challenge is the rear attachment of the bonnet with a front tilt. I like the Spitfire latch method.

Too bad its flared and looks like heck! Would be great if I had a dedicated racer

I purchased a 'glass bonnet from SPRIDGTECH a few years ago and it is a good product. It has the inserts for the rear tilt hinges (I suspect they fit--ask them) but I am putting in a front tilt kit and is going well. I reinforced the area where the tilt kit attaches to the bonnet (not done yet) and when the fit is final I will 'glass them in. It should work fine. Also I have a JEGS 1/4 turn fastener on each side. Kinda a PITA but I finally have them in place.
