What are the possible causes of the bonnet stay refusing to latch? I know someone will be tempted to say “because it’s broken, dummy!” My right support just started this today

The telescoping stays on the sides of the bonnet?
Every now and then I have one that won’t latch and it takes a couple of tries to get it to catch.
I’ve seen some where the latch tooth inside was worn and finally gave up.

That’s probably what’s happening. Usually I just try a couple times and it will finally latch.
