Anyone experience an annoying rattle coming from the hood or front apron on their car especially at start up or low idle? All related bolts seem to be tight?

Check your Dzus bonnet fasteners.

1. At the rear underside of the hood there is a strengthening structure. In many cars you will find some material wedged in between the hood and this structure. Frequently during restorations that material is removed and not replaced. Be sure to use some type of material that does not absorb water.
2. the prop rod for the hood can easily vibrate.
3. The front mechanism attached to the car body for the prop rod has a spring loaded push rod about 1+' long sticking up. that plus other areas on that whole mechanism can vibrate.
4. Check the tightness of the hinges .
5. Is there any area of the hood that comes in contact with the body?
Happy hunting!

There are 2 rubber bumpers at the front. When you lock the dzeus fasteners, make sure these bumpers are touching. After that, the next most common is the hood stay rod, mentioned above. It is long and can vibrate in the middle. Wrap it with old hose or tape to stop that. After that, the next most common cause is the spring in the center of the front apron. It has a rod that should enter a slot in the bonnet as the bonnet is closed. This keeps the bonnet from moving left and right. If it misses the slot...then the bonnet is free to move all over and bump the sides of the engine bay.
