bonnet and wiper clearance issue

I've never been able to open my hood/bonnet very far before the rear edge of it hits the wiper arms. I'm guessing the splined nub is sticking out too far? Of I have the wrong arms. The time to address this is now as the car is stripped down in the dash area. I mentioned it while back and someone said the arms looked wrong.

First thing I'd try is to locate some thinner wiper arms. Those look much thicker/taller than what is on my car.

I had the same issue on my bugeye. Those wiperarms look like they are off a later midget. The early arms are much thinner and clear no problem.

Alright, thanks, I'll start looking for the correct arms then. Moss has but with arms and blades it's $60 I don't have at the moment. At least I won't waste time trying to get these to work.
Anyone with a halfway decent set, let me know.

Those are not the correct arms. Get the right ones and you will not have a prob.

If you don't drive in the rain, just remove them and store in the boot just on the off chance that you get caught out.

PM sent
and put that 1098 back in that '64! Anyone can run a 1275.

Turns out Devin didn't have a pair after all, anyone else?

Now that's lateral thinking

Does anyone know off hand if the blade assemblies off my current (later Midget) will fit the earlier arms? Just need to know how many parts I have to go hunting for.

Bugeye windsheld wipers are about 16 bucks Moss.

Yep, I know, the arms are, the blades and all that totaled up pushes it to $60 but MK1 blades N/A and must differ somehow? I'll use my old, though recently refilled blades on the early arms if I can. Moss's parts list is a bit confusing, Sprite MKII but not Midget MKI? Part #15
To Moss's site

Blades are easy, autozone or such and cut em to fit. I get two sets for one refill. No clue why I would need a refill as I will not go out in the rain.

Finally tore into the issue further I put spacers made from PVC (about 1/4") under the existing metal beveled ones (under the cowl). This left just barely enough thread for the nuts to grab. It helped a lot but still can only open the hood so far before they hit. Maybe I have the wrong wiper arms after all.

I suggest buying some new wiper arms before you knacker the paint.

PO damaged paint long ago, you think I need different arms eh?
