I have been looking at engine room pics, folks projects as well as Horlers Original Sprite & Midget.

Are bolts supose to be plated? If so with what, cad, galv.?

Most of the bolts were cadmium plated.
I buy grade 5 zinc plated (not galvanized) nuts, bolts, and washers from the local bolt supply. But they usually only sell in box quanitys (100 ea) But there again, $50 worth of new nuts and bolts will do a couple of Spridgets too. And they come in usefull for other projects around the home and garage /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good answer, there are really only a few different sizes that show. Think I will go that route and make things preaty.

Isn't it intresting that with all the stuff available no one has pre packaged a cad bolt kit.

And for my next trick I need to figure out what sizes and how many of what I need.

But Ben I was hopeing you would go out and count this last weekend. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a 62 Sprite that I'm about to embark on an assembly that I disassembled 4 years ago and bolts are scattered or just need new ones anyways. Any guidance on purchasing bolts in bulk would be appreciated.(sizes, length, etc) If I could buy in bulk and have stuff already when I need it....great!!!

Just a reminder that many of the British bolts were sized in 1/8" length increments, whereas most bolts sold here are in 1/4" increments.
Not a big deal when using a nut/bolt combination, but it can make a big difference when going into a blind hole, such as a water pump mount.
I've had to shorten a few to the proper size when I couldn't get the correct length locally.

Would someone with a real live car start counting regular bolts. As I remember there are really only about 6 sizes. A good ball park number would be a lovely place to start. I think we all know that extras will not be a problem over the long haul.
