Does anyone know where i can get a bolt to block the end of the emissions tube from exhast manifold around the back of the motor that seems to connect to a check valve. think its a emmissions thing that was removed and blocked which came undone before i bought this car.....Thanks...............

Sounds like you need to find someone with an exhaust manifold laying around so that they can measure the threads.

Ask Bill - if he doesn't know it or have it I'd be surprised.
BillM? Where are ya man??

You talking about the tube for the EGR valve? Mine is on the front side of the bottom of my manifold. Mine broke off in it and a tapped it for 1/4 NPT plug.

a picture would be very helpful..

If you talking about a bolt that will fit here:

Then Ace Hardware has one that will fit:

It will also fit the threaded hole in the intake manifold:

Hope that helps.

Whats that shinny thing in the first photo with arrow, looks like a coil?
Just wondering what would be so close to all that heat.

Ha!

It's an old plastic spice bottle used as a catch can for the PCV oil mist - worked very well with the old ZS. I stuffed in some house A/C plastic filter material to separate out the oil from the vapor. It's twisted out of the way while I worked on removing the (non-functional) EGR valve that was getting in the way of something - prolly a heat shield I was fabbing up..

Cheers!

Oh, it does!

I was at the eye doctor once and he spotted the Midget outside. He had to go take a look. He sniffed the inside appreciably and said it brought back happy memories of his dad's MG. Probably a blend of engine oil and old carpet. Ha!

Cheers!

What makes a MG smell the way it does, I think that is one reason I like these cars so much.

I had a canvas covered Tri-pacer (airplane) it had this smell that consumed me

I actually bought some Castrol R from Moss Motors (when they had it) to mix a bit with the gas. Never did get a whiff but I hope some one did - that has to be the best smell.

Cheers!

During my rebuild I found a local nut and bolt supplier and became friends with them. They were able to come up with just about everything I was ever looking for and at very low prices. They enjoyed being part of the build and I was sure to stop by with the finished product.

Sure thing, glad I could help.

Ace Hardware has lots of good stuff that Lowes and HD doesn't have.

There is also a Tractor Supply place close by that sells grade 8 stuff by the lb, (though only the coarse threads). It has the Fine threaded stuff priced individually (that Lowes and Home Depot doesn't have)

Cheers

My local ACE has a bank of drawers that must be 30' long and 6' high, and I am told it is only part of that whole "system". It is a rare day when I don't find something that will do the job in those drawers.
