Boilo - Christmas Favorites

With Christmas approaching, we all have our family traditions ... many focused on food and drink. My maternal grandfather was a Lithuanian coal miner from the Pennsylvania coal region. At Christmas, they made a drink called "boilo" which was a mixture of citrus, honey, spices and alcohol. Brewed some myself yesterday for Christmas gifts. My Mom's recipe specified as the key ingredient "rye - (moonshine if you can get it)", Now, I just use 191 proof grain alcohol It's served warm and sipped. Anybody else have some Christmas favorites?

Slivovitz - A plum brandy that was always served at the annual Christmas party of a Yugoslavian friend. She wouldn't allow anyone into her home without a sample. Had her husband stand at the entrance door. First time at her party and liked it so much, being very naive I went back for seconds and possibly thirds. Spent the rest of the party pretty much catatonic. Sat in a chair and just smiled. It was good! Today I just have a glass of wine and enjoy the festivities.

1/2 my family tree has roots in Chile & that part brought us "Cola de mono (literally, monkey's tail)"
which is a Christmas spiced creamed coffee/rum drink with quite a punch to it!
Back in the day, we always enjoyed those evenings , when we got together in Texas.........if I remember correctly , or at all!

The Dutch Christmas drink in our world is Advocaat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advocaat though honestly it is only when my mother is around and even then, rarely, that we drink it.

My wife discovered this many years ago on holiday in what was Yugoslavia. It makes for very effective paint stripper when 'recycled' down the side of a boat.

How about a Viking beer of a sort, Mjöd made from fermented honey and grain
