Not sure, but it seems a little too good to be true although the pics look real:

A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement

money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a

few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for

15 year.; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs.

The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers,

but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded

shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in

the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway......so,

nobody made an offer on the place.

The New York guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth, moved

in, and set about to tear in to the barn.......curiosity was killing him.

So, he and his wife bought a generator, and a couple of grinders.......and

cut thru the welds.

What was in the barn...............?

Go to; https://WWW.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm and start wishing it you had

bought the place.

When the picture comes up, click next to see all the cool stuff he unknowingly purchased.

Do a Snopes and you will find the "find" is real. Just the story about the discovery and by who is fabricated.

For as long as this has been floating around, one would think that a "ligit" discovery story would rise to the surface. As it is, I have heard at least three versions about how it was found!

Believe the real story is that an auto dealer in Portugal has been collecting them for years as trade-ins, purchases, etc...recently allowed a photographer in to take photos of his 'collection'.

RAID TONY'S BARN!!

Hehe, he has electronic things, but given a few rece runs we might figure it out.

Looking at the barn pics two things come to mind:
1) If the story is true the buyer is very, very lucky!
2) It's unlikely they were intentionally building a collection, as most of the cars are missing quite a few parts. I think they were probably being broken up for spares, but why they weren't completely stripped is beyond me.

hehehehe....so, I'm sitting in my hotel room just now & the phone rings...its Jerri....there's a guy there who wants to buy all my MGB transmissions for $25 apiece....sure, I said & she took him out to my engine building....she called back a little later....he had brought $125 cash with him thinking that would cover them all but he counted 22 transmissions....took 5 & said he'd be back....he's raiding Tony's barn a little at a time! Jerri'll keep the cash!

Oh me, Tony is makeing room for something else. Gesh, that building is actually going to have floor space.

I know it, Jack....& we've started disassembling all the old engines & tossing the ones that aren't buildable & neatly stacking the ones that are!

How about a stash of 1275s for starters with some rib case trannys?

Dag, Tony!! You got a warehouse over there??? Is car parts your full time job?

Hehe, Tony has lots of little warehouses and outside storage as well. All neatly stored and labled, well he wishes.
