Does anyone know what a TR3A body tub weighs stripped of the interior panels, dash, seats, etc.? I did a search but was unable to find any info.
Thanks,

I don't have an exact weight but I recently did body off frame restorations on a TR3A and TR4. My friend and I were able to lift the body tub, sans interior fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid of the frame and onto a garden cart with a few grunts. we placed 2 long (maybe 8 ft 2x6 under the tub to lift and settled on using my engine lift for the TR 3 after a few cusses with the 4!

So I would guess 250-300 pounds max.

The pix is the TR 4 tub on the garden trailer. I tried posting the TR 3 pix but was too large for posting.

I will on the next thread.

I was able to lift mine off the frame using my engine hoist at max extension…

Thank you Jim & Ron for the quick replies. I have lifted my TR3A tub off the frame with a small chain fall before, but can't use that in my current location. I was going to ask three friends to help me lift it off the frame (for the last time, fingers crossed ) but wanted to prepare them for what to expect. Sounds like 65 to 75 lbs apiece - very doable.

Thanks again,
Stu

My 17 year old son and I easily lifted it. It is not heavy, just unwieldy. No more than 100# per end.

I would guess the same... c. 200 lbs.

Note when lifting it off, the "heaviest" bit may be the nut you forgot to remove (ask me how I know ), or any spots where the tub is stuck to the frame, etc.

I find a hoist very helpful, as you can lift slowly and watch where the tub lifts off the frame and vice-versa.

Thanks for the info Mike. I have also missed a nut in a previous tub removal from my chassis :(. As this is my third time, I hope I get it right.
Thanks again.
