TR6 Body Removal Question [TR6]

yes...thats how I do it.

Oh, I do remove the carbs first.

That's how I did it. And someday I'll put it back together.

Doug,
When I pulled my body off, the problem was not so much the engine but the shift knob got hung up on the floor pan. Make sure you get tall folks to help you because you will need to lift extra high. And I also removed the carbs.

Hi all,

I just posted a similar question - I should have posted here! (I forgot that God gave us only one mouth but two ears and two eyes! :square:)

How does one "pry" the body off the frame, once all the bolts and other stuff are out? Should it simply pop off, or is a little muscle required for the initial separation?

Also, do you have to remove the radiator hoses prior to lifting the body?

Thanks,
Mike

If your sure all bolts are out.. Just go from corner to corner and give a good tug in the upward direction - The idea here is to locate the sticking point. Once you find that deal with it then repeat the process.

There are rubber strips between the frame and floor boards that have a tendency to adhere the floor boards to the frame. lifting the body on one side then the other will break the bond.

Great - thanks - will try that this weekend! (wish me luck...)

Thanks,
Mike

It is a good idea to brace the body to avoid bending/twisting it. I recommend searching the forum to see what others have done. Good luck!
