Hi all I was restoring a fender on my tr3 and found it interesting that from the factory the body color was just kinda sorta put on under the fenders

That must be a very early TR3 because that is the color of Ice Blue. The color was supposidly discontinued at around TS1200 but Piggott states in his "Triumph by name - Triumph by nature" that there are several Heritage certificates that lists Ice Blue as the original color well into the TR3s.

Have you seen Piggott's latest hardback "TR2-3A in Detail?" I've had it on order for over a year. Supposed release is 11/2008 but I have one on the way from Amazon finally. Can't wait to see it.

I called the color baby blue. Perhaps the color is lighter when photographed. The fender is off a 1958 TS 27000 something. I bought the car in 1975 for parts and wished I had got around to using them earlier because I had to make some patch panels. The car had an ivory frame and a baby blue body. How could a redneck macho man buy something like that new? Oh the cool colors of the fifties
