Body Bracing and Dolly

So I have been working on getting the peripherals loose so I can take the body off the frame. I need to see what is the best way to brace the body while it is off of the frame.

Anyone know what the tub weight is on a TR3 minus all the panels?

The other thing is that I picked some dolly wheels rated at 330lbs per wheel. I need to put together a jig to set the body on so I can roll it around for the transport. Anybody have pictures of how they created a jig?

Here's how we did one. Rolled it out to work on it and back in for the night.

Here's a pic of how I braced the body, and if you notice, there is a hole in the cross brace that I used to lift the body (sans exterior panels) with an engine hoist. I guessed right, as the cross brace location perfectly balanced the tub. Since the engine hoist has wheels on it, I could move the body in and out of the garage at will. My garage will fit only one car, so I had to constantly take off and put back on the body to the chassis when working on the chassis or to get underneath the tub. It allowed me to work by myself which is an advantage. The whole procedure of actually moving it in and out took less time then describing it.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I think I am on the right track now. I have PB blasted the last few bolts that are being stubborn. I assume that just the steering, Throttle linkage and SUs need to come off for the body to come clear off of the frame.

Thanks again...I knew someone had done this before me...

Here's what I constructed for a dolly... it worked well as I'm sure all of the other designs did.

Elliot,

Are those the three wheeled thingies sold to move sofas and the like? Did you attach them to the legs or is the dolly just sitting on them?

Those "3-wheeled thingies" are triangular shaped with three steel wheels. They came on some heavy equipment and I just could not bear to toss them out. They came in handy when I built the dolly.
They were attached to the legs... I didn't want them to come off moving it around.
