An inspiration to me in my many years of flying. He will surly be missed by me and many folks in the aviation field. He could do things with an aircraft that many of us could only dream of. May he rest in peace.
In one of the air shows I attended Bob took the Strike Commander up and shut down BOTH engines. He preceded to do aerobic maneuvers and then land with engines out. When he came in on final, the tail of his plane hit the wires running along the road perpendicular to the runway. He landed safely but it sure was scary to see.
I didn't know about him until I saw reference to him,
from my Dad,who used to attend the Reno Air Races every year.
I have some pictures,& a press badge from 1971,if anyone's
interested in them.
