Knew a fellow that had an old Elco, probably around 40/50 foot. It was more deluxe than the one in the photo. It was flawless in appearance, all white and varnished wood. He used to run it up and down the river with girls in swim wear all over it, like 20 or 30! Needless to say, it attracted a lot of male attention. My wife said, "That guys a weirdo"! I thought, to myself of course, sure must be a happy one!
brooklands, i had me an aqua flyer 13.5', also a yellow jacked very similar, my hands still hurt from driving in brass screws with a screwdriver rebuilding inboard chris craft and the like, those boats are like l.b.c. you never get em out of your blood.
Brass screws! Brought back a long-lost memory of where my appreciation for Phillips bits on an electric drill came from. Must have hand-wound HUNDREDS of the durn'd things before my uncle "allowed" me to use the drill.
Marv needs to post a before picture. I personally filled 9 garbage bags of leaves and other junk from the hull of that boat during the "before" period. He paid $400 for it.
I would love to see the before photos. A friend of mine keeps poring over the free boats section of the Boat Bone Yard site. I have almost been on the road with him to pick up a free boat a few times already. But I doubt he will ever pull the trigger and add to his projects in the barn.
