Boat engine upgrades

I promise to never, ever again lend my tarpon boat
to a friend. The engine came back pretty trashed
and the lower unit and prop busted up.

Blah, blah, blah engine repairs, so I decided to go for
a few performance upgrades while I was at it.

Honda Marine S.S. high performance prop
Mercury Marine S.S. skeg with mini-hydrofoil
High performance cavitation plate hydrofoil
( Tony- nice looking yield sign, yes?)

The boat should "pop" up on plane and fly across
the water.

Gonna test run the boat Sunday morning.
I,m hoping Julian will be able to go out for a
bit before his flight leaves. He's about 1.5 miles
from my marina.

I post a report Sunday evening.

best to all, have a great weekend!! :savewave:

A cheap but excellent speed help is teflon coating of the hull. Paint it on and get quite a benefit of durability and increase in speed and planing. We used it while I worked at a Harbor in St. Louis on the Mississippi River.

OOOOOOh eye candy!!! that just looks fast Dale. Can't wait for the report.

Can you do wheelies on water? Wow!

But, but, its not yellow!!

Yes Tony, but he does have the mandatory "red" on the boat!!

Great job Dale!

Oh, the prop is nice too....

Performance testing this morning.

at 9 knots the boat pops onto plane and rockets
almost instantly to 40 knots. Breath takingly quick.
Caught a few keeper snook for the grill as well.

I've heard said the difference between the men and the
boys....is the price of their toys.

And, hey, I just couldn't loan my boat out.
A guy's gotta screw up a few props of their own for
they figure out how to prevent it.

Seems your friend learned (or not) at your expense;
but, hey, it's a great excuse to upgrade!

Nice pescado.

Looks good, I sure hope you're not buying your fuel from the same place you bought the "fuel" for Amos.
