BN4 Speedometer Cable Routing

Hello,

Helping a friend with his 1959 BN4.

1. His speedometer cable runs under the car from the OD, traveled into the engine compartment, enters the fire wall through the same hole as the choke cable.
2. My BJ8 cable is attached to the OD and exits through a hole at the top of the transmission tunnel and continues to the back of the gauge.

What is the correct path for the BN4 cable?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Roger,

I answered on the other forum but in case you didn't see it.....

I have a '57 BN4 and a '60 BT7 and both of them have the same general cable routing. In both of my cars the tunnels had been removed and replaced many times before I got the cars so the factory method of sealing against hot engine bay air had been lost long before I became the custodian (one of my cars had a strip of carpet and some 'dum dum' type malleable putty around the cable area).

Pictures show the routing in my BT7. The cable does not go into the engine area but enters the cabin in front of the removable vertical tunnel piece. The method of sealing I chose was strips of neoprene foam as shown across the top of that removable vertical piece. Not at all sure the sealing is like the factory, but it works well and I have no engine heat in the cabin. I do believe the routing is generally correct since both of my cars were the same when I got them.
