BN4 Longbridge Question

I am in the process of restoring a washer bottle for a Longbridge BN4 and wonder what finish should be on the metal band that holds it into the package tray hole. I have older concours guidelines and it states a gloss black finish. However, the band that I have does not show evidence of black paint and looks as though it was zinc plated.

Thoughts?

Jim, aka healeyblue has posted some good pictures of the setup he restored; that may shed some light on the subject for you.

Steve,

The concours guide for 2014 still states that the washer bottle bracket is painted gloss black, which I believe to be incorrect. All of the original brackets I have seen (And mine) are zinc plated. No evidence of paint of any type.

Thanks,
Duane

Steve - the concours guide has not always been correct for the Longbridge model. I have photos of an original Longbridge with less than 16k miles shown at the Louisville Conclave a couple of years ago. The top of the bottle is perfect in black with the John Sydney Ltd logo and the water bottle frame appears never to seen any black paint :driving:

Thanks all for the input. Zinc is correct and the guide is wrong. I see no evidence of any black paint on it. A perfect excuse to get a zinc plating kit like Caswell's.
