BN2 overdrive question...

i hope this makes sense.
i have seen the OD done 2 different ways... not sure about BN1 vs BN2?
I have seen the solenoid lever exposed - meaning no "box" around it. i have also seen it with a "box" enclosing it. My BN2 OD looks like it has a bent plate in the front of the OD lever/accuator but no "box".

Can someone enlighten me on the "correct" way or info?
