BN2 Generator

I am finally working on my 100M. While the siezed engine is being rebuilt I am getting the rest of the car in order. Among the extra parts that came with it is a generator that has an oval brass plate reading "Special Equipment Lucas." The end plate is a different shape than the one I took off the engine and the pully and fins are cast in one piece. Which one is original?

Check the brass tag, there is a date on it, which most likely will not match the date on your car. I have the same generator that I am putting on my "Le Mans Converted" BN2. Mine has the same end as my generator, so yours might be a little earlier and not sure if it would work. I don't think they are correct for the car, I believe they were used on Jaguars and other high end cars. Since mine is not a real "M", I thought it would be neat to have some period upgrades on the car. People are going to tell you it's wrong or not correct... So. Bugeye's didn't come with a Judson Supercharger either, but I did okay with it.

I bought a used generator for my BN1, I was told it was an original BN1 item, it had the cast pulley same as I believe is on the generator you have shown in the bottom of your picture, I had never seen a cast pulley/fan like that before.

Both my original factory manual and the Complete Original Austin Healey book list the original dynamo for the 100 as a Lucas C45 PV-5.

Thanks, glemon. The brass tag number, lower one in the picture, is C45 PVS/5. The generator that was in the car is C45 PV-5. Sounds good to me.
