BN1 Toyota Gearbox

I have bought a Toyota 5 speed gearbox to fit in our BN1.

I understand a chap over here in USA has done this conversion using a 1" alloy plate between the Toyota bellhousing and his engine. I have tried to contact the chap to no avail.

Question is..........has anyone else carried out a similar conversion? and is CAD data (or otherwise) available? Any info would be most helpful,as I can't gain any info in the UK.

Here's hoping....

Tony

Hi Tony You can call 1-704-455-2585 or 1-704-455-8504. "Healey 5 Speed" here in the US . This Gearbox system was formerly Smitty Trans Conversion-----Keoke

The chap that originally developed the kit was Brody Smith (my notes show him as being Smith Brody, but...)and he sold the operation to Pete Delaney; I've got the same 455-2585 phone number as a contact, but I'm going to record Keoke's other one! Not sure though if he has something for the BN1.

Doug
PS: and I've got a Toyota tranny stored away, wondering if I should also spend the bucks and get the kit for some future date.

PPS: just found a thread from a year ago with prices at that time: https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/ubbthreads.php/topics/673319/Pete_Delaney_Smitty_s_5_Speed_

and with his contact info:
