Hi All,
I finally picked up my new old car from Brisbane over the weekend. I got straight into the rear brakes. Its great to be back in the garage greased up with a Healey again!

After cleaning up the left hub I was puzzled as it is marked "RH" I checked the Knock off and its correctly marked "Left" and tightens the correct way with a right hand thread doing up against the forward direction of the wheel.

I can only assume the the RH on the hub refers to the Right hand thread, not the right hand hub. The left hand hub has no markings.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum! I see your 100 has the early type spiral bevel axle with four stud hubs. The RH will refer to the thread. Right hand side of the car has left hand thread, & the left hand has right hand thread. The Rudge pattern wheel is designed so that if there is any movement on the splines the wheel tightens itself, but this function relies on the correct direction of travel.
Before reassembly, check the state of the studs. Unlike the later "five stud" axles, the four stud hub has studs that can become loose over time.
Also ensure that when the hubs are refitted, check that they are not mixed up, right to left! Always use a copper (or aluminium) hammer to tighten the knock-on hubcaps.

Thanks for the reply, yes this one is a 54 I think although its registered as a 53 in WA. The one I had in Christchurch was a 55 BN1 but made up of lots of BN2 parts.
You have confirmed my thoughts on the the hubs I had to think twice when I saw the markings.
I have a lead hammer which I have to reshape once in a while but it works well.
BTW whereabouts in Qld are you?
