Have a pair of coilsprings been offered to me, 11.5" long, 4.75" O/D, 3/4" coil dia,7 full coils, do these suit? as I dont have my BN1 close by to check
zblu, i have a set of original springs that come off a bn-2, they should be the same as those for bn-1 they measure 11-3/4 long, 4-5/8 diameter, and 17/32, thick. have your friend remeasure his.
zblu, ya good idea, mine naturally have some rust but i cant see how 7/32 wasted away, perhaps while building these cars they pulled them out of bins from different vendors? maybe you got the "low rider" version.
Just checked my parts book anthony7777, BN1 and BN2 have different part numbers, or maybe i got the uprated stiffer comp ones on offer, nothing a spacer cant fix
zblu, its good to have a parts book! moss says bn-1 and bn-2 use the same spring, they do list a repro set for bn-1, bn-2 and bn-4 that must be changed in pairs, p/n 661-910 there using the same p/n for all of these, im sure the ones you have will be fine, i like the fact there a little "chunkyer".
BN1 is part No. 1B 4315, and BN2 part No. is 4484, wonder if the height diff is taken up on install then the action should be a stiffer ride with same height due to larger dia coils not settling as much on install? Have to wait until someone with BN1 coils chimes in!
Well, remeasured and got 11" 17/32 high, 4" 27/32 outside spring dia, and 5/8" coil dia, number of coils matches pic in parts book, Hmmm!, might grab them
