BN1 Chassis Color

I just saw a beautiful BN1 on BaT that sold for $68,500. Black chassis, non original light blueish/greenish color over white coves.
This has me thinking. If a car is a bit of a resto-mod does the color of chassis really matter? Is it only the purists that require that the chassis be the same as the body color?

The first 700 or so BN1s had black chassis from the factory. Some OEW late 1954 and early 1955 had black painted front frames and engine bays.

The BN1 you refer to on Bring a Trailer is painted Aston Martin California Sage, as I recall, which is similar in tone to the BN1 Special Test Cars from 1953.

If you are doing a concours quality rebuild then yes it matters. If you are not then it is your car and your choice. If you paint your Healey black then this dilemma isn’t even a question….
