Just thought I would post my experience with refurbishing a cast iron head, mine had numerous cracks and had been planed 125 thou, guy heated it up, used recycled rods made of old metal from same era (read same metal composition), welded the 13 cracks up, we added the 125 thou by adding metal, it worked!, have done about 3k miles now with no probs! so dont throw that old head out, can still be rescued!

How did you add the 125 thou.? Welding then planing or a thicker gasket?

Bruce

Used a copper spray to build it up with Bruce Bowker rather than a thicker gasket, as this will help when/if I have to have it refaced at any time
