BN1 -100/4 information needed

1. BN1 seats – how is the original attachment?
1.1 Is the BN1 seat only held by 2 bolts to the floor? Not to mistake with later adjustable seats that have 3 bolts and adjuster.
1.2 How long are the wooden spacers under the seat for a BN1 – the once still available fit all other Healey’s but they are different from the once original BN1 (Pictures of the wooden rail would be awesome)

2. Mounting 100-4 Transmission tunnel
2.1 Does anyone have information on the proper seals to mount a BN1 transmission tunnel.
2.2 Is the wiring for Overdrive, the Speedometer cable and the RPM cable routed through the upper transmission tunnel seal? (Pictures are awsome)

1. Depend on how early your car is. If early then it is bolted to the floor. If later BN1, it has seat slides.

1.1 I believe that is correct.

1.2 try Eric Grunden, proprietor of Absolutely British, in
Ontario Calif. (909) 947-0200 He makes the strips and I believe makes ones for the early BN1s. Try him around 7 to 10 am weekdays; he has a unique work schedule and
you'll just get his helper if you call later. Eric is a good knowledgable Healey restorer/mechanic.

2.1 No, but I'd just use your standard off the shelf "camper seal." I'd use neoprene camper seal if you can find it at your auto supply store. I think british car specialists maybe sells kits too.

2.2 I thin overdrive is wired seperately. Have a look back a couple of posts, Dave Russel just posted a picture of this just only two or three days ago.

The cable routing is clear now.

Mine is a 53 BN1. It apears that the wooden seat rails were mounted with 2 (?) bolts from under the car, using actual steel inserts in the wood as a nut. Need to know how many fasteners and wood strip lenght

Hi Luke,
A quote from the AH Concours Registry:
"On BN1 through early BN4's, the passenger seat (and the drivers seat as well on early BN1's with adjustable steering wheels) was bolted to the floor through 5/16" wood risers plus 3/4" thick packing strips with speed nuts held by 1/4" bolts and washers coming up through the floor from below. Four 1/4" bolts, locks and washers in turn passed through the seat pan into captive speed nuts to secure the assembly to the floor. Some adjustment was obtained by moving the seat pan to it's second set of mounting holes."

The wood strips on the BN2 measure about 1 1/4" wide by 15" long. Not sure if your BN1 is the same.

The speed nuts on early BN1s weren't exactly T-nuts, they were bolts welded to metal plates very similar to a seat belt reinforcement plate.

Mine is nov 30 '53 body 860, on that I found 3 sets of holes spaced a few inches apart in the floorpan, fo short/medium/long legs?, holes appeared to be original.
Tunnel cover on mine was bare of sealant, ali cover even has slight dent in it over weld seam on chassis to effect bette seal
