$5k might be a wee bit high for that bike, though if the miles are truly original it might be reasonable. I've seen R75/5 bikes go for $4500 or so, and that's a bit more of a usable bike.

Airheads are very neat bikes, I've considered swapping my current bike for a R75/5 some day...

Let us know if it comes through.

As the owner said in the auction,I would
recommend replacing the tires.
If you buy it,that's one of the first things to do.

Mark, for reference, I bought an identical bike two weeks ago for $4,000. It shows 53k, but has been totally restored by a local well known airhead specialist.

There is a conundrum in the purchase of an old vehicle with very low miles on it. First, as we all know, it does no good for a machine to sit idle for 36 years. But the real problem is that you'll pay a premium for the low miles, which means that if you use the bike that premium immediately evaporates. I doubt that the real price will increase much in the near to mid future. So, if you're an investor and won't ride it, or if you want an original, then this is probably a good price. If however, you want to ride it for several years and then sell, you'll lose big on the deal. (just noticed that the bid is closed, so either you have it or not by now. If you missed this one, good luck on finding another - they are great fun.)

Thanx Fellas,
i put the kibosh on the deal. i would really have anothe Triumph anyway.

Get what you really want, Mark, that's the key. I like my Suzuki, but I would have preferred a new Triumph or old airhead BMW instead. Should have held out, probably will switch one of these here days.

I'm with you, Mark - I'm holding out for "the" Speedmaster!
