BMIHT Factory Record

Triumph used several different ports to off-load their cars. I know that Jacksonville (Blount Island) and Pensacola were used...and I would imagine that Baltimore also was involved because they have always had European cars unloaded at their ports.

It's also likely that west coast ports such as Long Beach, some Bay area ports and others such as Tacoma were in the mix, too.

In the 50's and early 60's even US manufacturers avoided cross country transport of their new cars either by rail or by truck...manufacturing plants were scattered throughout the country to insure prompt delivery of the raw materials and the finished cars.

These were the days before the Interstate system was completed and long haul trucking was limited to general freight and fresh food.
