Anyone with a car painted in BMC Tartan Red, please post or email a photo if you don't mind! Thanks. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Tartan Red 1967 MGB GT (original paint):

L-to-R: '67 Tartan Red GT, Trailer, '79 Vermillion Red MGB, '74 Flame Red Midget, '63 Signal Red Midget (& for some reason, my '74-1/2 Blaze Red GT wasn't outside)

(See, Jack, some of my cars DO venture out of the garage from time-to-time!)

Thanks guys. I'm mixing paint for the GTS, and the red in the can is slightly darker than the red on the car. The posted examples help out.

Otherwise known as "resale red".

Regarding paint colors, British Leyland cars were offered in a virtual rainbow of color options, all of them lovely hues. Several shades of practically all the primary colors were offered.

Although I'm no artist, I love them all.

Another good reason to keep your LBC's paint an original color! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

Is there much difference between Tartan and Blaze? I am doing some work in my engine room, and I need to paint after cleaning up the rust. I think my car is painted Blaze Red, but was Tartan Red. I am planning on getting some rattle can Red from paintscratch.com, and I am not sure whether to get the Tartan or the Blaze.

I think the Blaze is much brighter red, and the tartan is more of a maroon, but I am not exactly sure.

Lots of difference between Tartan & Blaze...

Oh, Carmine Red is more like a Maroon.

I think I am going to stick with the Tartan. When it comes time to repaint the car (after years and years of bodywork) I was planning on going with Tartan anyway.

My question is how do they get that plaid pattern to come out of a spray can?? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

That is my question, especially when I see camo spray paint. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Isn't that like the checkerboard paint that they use in the cartoons?I think Acme makes it.
