Blue Moon Camera

Doc, I have had a look at Blue Moon Camera - thanks for the link! Looks like a very interesting site. I found myself going down the rabbit hole of their "museum". One of the cameras they feature is the Canon T-50, and another is the T-90. As it happens, I have the one in-between these two - the T-70.

On there processing page, they ask you to choose "finishing options" with choices of "prints," "Develop-Only order," and "scans." I would assume if I choose "scans" that I would be back soft copied (jpgs?). I'll probably give them a call to be sure I understand the options.

T'is an interesting place. I've done the same, looking thru the different galleries too.
They accept gear for consignment as well. I'm tempted to send them all my Mamiya TLR and Miranda stuff. I'll never use it again and it's a shame to let it sit and atrophy if someone could get some use out of it. A couple old Honeywell Strobonar units lurking here in a closet, too. I'd rather see the stuff on their site than putting it on E-Bay.

Not sure what format the scanned negs would be in, they may be able to do them in different ones; P'Shop, Corel, etc. as well as .jpg. A call would clarify.

Another question I'd ask is if they would return reloadable cassettes. In a prior thread, Greg and I threw back-and-forth the idea of lurin... err... finding local folks who may be interested in shooting film. I was thinking I could get bulk film and load cassettes, have them send the film to Blue Moon for processing and get the cassettes back to load again. The bulk loading would cut the cost of film stock considerably.

Would you think just getting negatives and scanning myself would be better?
Absolutely. The "process only" and scan the negs with your Epson. (y)

The only other option they list (though a bit pricey) is a "contact sheet" and that for B&W only. That could be useful for selecting what shots you'd want to scan. But a loupe and some backlight would be good enough to check the images.

I would guess the RGB.jpg is a scan for $8, and for color?

I looked at the downloaded .pdf price sheet, that says for proof sheets B&W only and $11 apiece.

I have just completed an order (but they didn't provide instructions that I could find regarding shipping the roll to them). I plan to call later to be sure I'm sending the roll to the right location and with the right paperwork.

Just doing one roll to see how it comes out. Not having them scan - just provide negatives which I will scan myself.

This is at the bottom of page #2 on their PDF Pricing List:

Might want to call 'em to see what "Abridged Processing Schedule" means.
